PRESERVING FLAVOUR AND NUTRIENTS
How to store the strawberries:
1. Do not pre-wash your strawberries - they stay their freshest when dry and cold. Any added moisture will soften the strawberries and encourage mould growth.
2. Keep the stems on the strawberries – having the stems intact will protect the interior of your berries and prolong their shelf life.
3. Keep the strawberries dry and cold. Line a plate, baking sheet with a couple of paper towels or a clean kitchen towel. Place the unwashed strawberries on top in a single layer, then cover with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerate.
How to eat your strawberries:
1. Gently wash the strawberry under flowing water.
2. Dry the strawberries and leave at room temperature for some time before consuming.
Chef Tip:
Strawberries taste better if you leave them at room temperature for 2-3 hours before eating (The sugar levels are going up).
